Teaser Tuesday - The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N.K. Jemisin

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just:
* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title and author, too, so that other Teaser Tuesday participants can add the book to their To Be Read (TBR) Lists if they like your teasers!

I started reading The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms last week and so far I love it!

The Tease:
""What is it that an Arameri should know, Auntie?" I asked.
It was something I had wondered since our first meeting.
She paused, glanced back at me.
"How to be cruel," she said very softly.  "How to spend life like currency and wield death itself as a weapon."
She lowered her eyes.  "Your mother told me that, once.  I've never forgotten it.""

What's your Tease?

  1. Sounds very intriguing.

  2. That made an interesting introduction to the book. I'm having fun with my Teaser Tuesday posts in December:

Tuesday nights before Christmas, after excitement and looks,
I am planning to share stories from seasonal books.
The tales I am seeking were crafted with care,
With the best of the season enfolded in there ;)
