I absolutely LOATHE First Person Present Tense. First Person Past Tense I don't mind quite so much, but this book is all First Person Present, which I hate. However, the story ain't so bad... The Tease:
"When I break into the clearing, she's on the ground, hopelessly entangled in a net. She just has time to reach her hand through the mesh and say my name before the spear enters her body."
-The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins
What's your Tease?
Great book! And great quote! That was so emotional and shocking...well the whole book was exciting, emotional and shocking! Loved it and I love Gale.
ReplyDeleteMy TT
Seriously? I want to read it, because I've heard so much about it, but I hate 1st Person Present, too... But great teaser!
ReplyDeleteWe both loved this book! First person present tense doesn't bother me at all, in fact, it seems to pull me into a book more. You chose a great teaser here!
ReplyDeleteHere's our teaser: http://www.ourstack.blogspot.com/2012/02/tuesday-teasers-incarnate-and-front-and.html
I don't mind first person present tense. It just seems a little strange, but I'm not that bothered. I love Hunger Games, I hope you enjoy it too! Awesome teaser this week! <3

Yea, you're reading The Hunger Games!
ReplyDeleteOMG, it almost makes me cry all over again just reading that! Hugs to Rue!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't mind first person present tense, but it does take me some adjusting to go back and forth from book to book. I prefer to read a few in first person or a few in third, if that makes sense.
This was a good series but the first book was my favorite. I don't usually care much for the movies but I am curious about this one. Great teaser!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I just finished reading the book again last night. I normally really dislike 1st person but I honestly don't think I even noticed the first time I read it, and even quickly forgot when I read it again this time.
ReplyDeleteI remember that scene from when I read The Hunger Games--one of the saddest.
ReplyDeleteGreat teaser!
