Teaser Tuesday - Great North Road, by Peter F Hamilton

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just:
* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title and author, too, so that other Teaser Tuesday participants can add the book to their To Be Read (TBR) Lists if they like your teasers!

I'm a little over halfway through Great North Road, by Peter F Hamilton, and I'm really enjoying it.  The main portion of the story is a murder mystery - and the death may be connected to a previous murder years before.  Eyewitnesses describe the killer as an alien monster - but the expedition sent to the planet of St. Libra can't seem to find any trace of alien life.  Except someone keeps murdering members of the expedition in the humid jungle, and disappearing without a trace...

The Tease:

"Antrinell walked over, the lines on his round face emphasizing his dismay.  "I hate this weather," he grunted.  "I almost wish it would rain again."

I'm reading Great North Road, by Peter F Hamilton, and liking it a lot!  The main portion of the story is a murder mystery - and the death may be connected to a previous murder years before.  In this scene, Angela remembers an event from her first visit to the planet of St. Libra twenty years ago...

The Tease:

"Barclay North was waiting in the big open-plan lounge, with its balcony overlooking the deserted beach.  Angela gave him a coy grin.  "Hi," she said, all husky-voiced."
