I'm finding myself to be a little sad as I near the end of The River Wall, as it means I'm nearing the end of what has turned out to be a very interesting and enjoyable series.  This will be the final tease before I finish it.  So long Gandalara - it's been fun getting to know you!!

The Tease:
"The countryside east of Raithskar had once been its most fertile area, a garden for the water-rich city. Now it lay in a state of devastation and abandonment.  The grain fields were trampled and stripped." -The Gandalara Cycle: #7 The River Wall, by Randall Garrett & Vicki Ann Heydron

Things I'm excited about...

1. A new TV series on TNT that will premiere in June called "Falling Skies."  According to the website,
"FALLING SKIES opens in the chaotic aftermath of an alien attack that has left most of the world completely incapacitated. In the six months since the initial invasion, the few survivors have banded together outside major cities to begin the difficult task of fighting back. Each day is a test of survival as citizen soldiers work to protect the people in their care while also engaging in an insurgency campaign against the occupying alien force...FALLING SKIES focuses on the resilience of the survivors and their determination to maintain their humanity when all else has been destroyed. It is a tale of endurance, commitment and courage in which everyday people are called upon to become heroes. They may be outmatched, outnumbered and outgunned, but nothing can beat the human spirit. Most of all, the series is about the ties that bind people together in the most difficult of circumstances."
I haven't seen anyone online mention this new show yet - probably because it's weeks away still - but it looks fantastic!  And I loves me some Noah Wylie!

2. New Movies!!  There are several movies just out and coming soon that I'm excited about.  I've already mentioned Scream 4.  In addition to that, I can't wait to see Water for Elephants.  I'm also looking forward to seeing Hanna, Rio, and The Conspirator (Directed by Robert Redford).

3. HBO's Game of Thrones.  Episode 1 was fantastic and amazing, and was a perfect introduction to the world of Westeros and the multitudes of characters involved in the story.  It was also an unqualified success, drawing over 4.2 million viewers on it's premiere night, prompting HBO to order a second season after airing only one episode!!

4. I've almost finished "The Gandalara Cycle: #7 The River Wall," which is the concluding novel in the series.  (Hopefully I'll have time to get some reviews up sometime during the next week).  Once that's finished, the book on my TBR List is "Changes" by Jim Butcher, which is Book #12 of The Dresden Files, a series that I am enormously fond of, so I'm really looking forward to starting that.

At last, Intrepid Reader, we have reached the seventh and final book in The Gandalara Cycle, The River Wall, and our Beloved Heroes find themselves in grave peril yet again as they continue their mission - nay, their Destiny - to return the Ra'ira Stone and save their world from Evil Villains!  Step closer then Dear Reader and gaze in awe upon...

The Tease:
"I clutched at the old man's body, kneeling in the eye of a hurricane of strife, and I screamed inside my head.  The battle, Ferrathyn, the danger Tarani faced - all were momentarily forgotten in the grief I felt for the kind man who had done nothing but want the best for his family and his city." -The Gandalara Cycle: #7 The River Wall, by Randall Garrett & Vicki Ann Heydron

I'm excited about...

I am very excited about the possibility of this becoming a reality - "Dragonriders of Pern" movie news.
This has been, despite its' many problems, one of my favorite series over the years. If there is a fantasy equivalent to the "cozy mystery" then this series is it - a "cozy fantasy."  The writing isn't always the best, and there's a lot of attitudes from the 1960's & 70's that might seem strange now, but the idea of the stories, the culture, the world-building and most of all, the dragons are simply amazing!  I may need to start on a re-read sometime next year to get prepared if it looks like the deal may go through. There's tons of things that can derail a project like this before it even gets started, but I'm excited that it's at least a  possibility!

Tomorrow, (just in case you've been living under a rock and missed all the previews), is the release date for Scream 4!  OMG!!  I can't wait!!  I generally do not enjoy horror movies, but the Scream franchise is something all-together different, and I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE IT OH MY GOD YOU GUYS I CAN'T STAND IT!!!!  Also, my boyfriend refuses to see this or any other Scream movie, so I need to find a Faux Beau who will go see it with me.  Any takers?

Also, Game of Thrones premieres on HBO on Sunday, April 17th.  That's only FOUR DAYS from now!!  If you don't have HBO, or a friend with HBO who is willing to let you park on their couch, you should seriously consider finding one or the other, because you do NOT want to miss this series.  Every time I see a trailer for the show and hear the phrase "Winter is coming," a chill of excitement blasts it's way down my spine and makes me want to jump up and down for joy!!  (I do not advise doing this in the middle of the supermarket.  People WILL stare, and possibly point).

So tell me - What are YOU excited about today?

Ah!  The end is in sight - almost!  I just started book six last night.  I'm still enjoying this series, and I think I will be sad to see it end when I finish book seven.  But, that is a little ways off yet, so without further ado, here is...

The Tease:
"We were within sight of the city walls when the vineh attacked again.  This time they appeared from grain fields on either side of the main road, which we had been following for the past hour or so." -The Gandalara Cycle: #6 Return to Eddarta, by Randall Garrett & Vicki Ann Heydron

The Tease:
"Tarani was cheerful the next day and I decided, no matter how scary the experience had been for both of us, that I was glad she had found some expression for the emotions she had been repressing. Nothing was said between us about the incident; she seemed to forget it, and that suited me just fine." -The Gandalara Cycle: #5 The Search for Ka, by Randall Garrett & Vicki Ann Heydron
